How can I crop white margins, when I print a 1 column Word document as 2 pages per sheet?

My Word 2019 document has just 1 column, and I don't want to convert it into 2 columns. When you command Word to print 2 pages per sheet, Word doesn't let you shrink the white margins. I'm using ANSI Letter as the paper size.

How can I improve my inefficient workaround? I print my Word document as 2 pages per sheet, and save it as a PDF. Then using Adobe Acrobat, I crop most of the white blank margin on PDF, before printing.

How can I accomplish this with just Word, without Adobe Acrobat?

page with two columns and lot of whitespace

Here are the margins of a new Word document for me.

What version of Word? What size paper? manassehkatz‭ about 1 month ago

@manassehkatz‭ Is paper size relevant? Anyways, I answered both questions by editing my post. VLDR‭ about 1 month ago

Paper size is relevant because US sizes (letter, legal, etc.) really don't work well in a 2-up format. As opposed to European sizes A4, etc. where each size is related to the next size by sqrt(2) so that things really work nicely when doubled/halved/etc. manassehkatz‭ about 1 month ago

What are the initial margins, and if you print it one-page-per-page, are the margins as expected? manassehkatz‭ about 1 month ago

@manassehkatz "Paper size is relevant because US sizes (letter, legal, etc.) really don't work well in a 2-up format". There's no issue when I crop and print as 2 pages with PDF though. That's why I still think paper size is irrelevant. Please see my edited post. VLDR‭ about 1 month ago
