How do I enlarge inbox text in Thunderbird?

−0

I've just installed Thunderbird on MacOS 14.2.1. I've run through all the settings I could find related to fonts and sizes, but nothing I change affects the message list, meaning the list of sender/subject/date that you see in the inbox. Some (but not all) individual messages respond to font changes (a problem for a different question later), but I need to make the text in the main list bigger. Is there a way to do this?

I'm referring to this part of the UI:

screenshot: several one-line message entries

I restarted Thunderbird after making settings changes (several times, by now), but that didn't change the appearance of the message list.

(I currently don't have thunderbird installed, so cannot test myself) Did you restart thunderbird after changing all the font related setting? (is there a correlation between html vs. plain text in the messages which respond to the changed font size?)

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned that (will edit). I've restarted a few times in the process of trying to find/fix these settings; didn't make a difference.

I haven't found a way (yet?) to force all incoming email to plain text. I am seeing some variation in incoming messages, but I assume they're coming in as HTML and being rendered that way? Email I send is plaintext and honors my size settings.

Thanks for the clarification!
