Is it possible to run the same version of MySQL on two servers, but use MySQL Community on one and MySQL Enterprise on the other?

I have two servers with identical hardware for running MySQL one is the development environment and the other is production. Currently, we are considering upgrading from MySQL Community (free) to MySQL Enterprise ($5,000 per year).

Is it possible to upgrade only the production server to MySQL Enterprise and keep the same version of MySQL (8.xx) as is on the development server which will still be running MySQL Community?

I don't see why it would be a problem. What about your usage, or intended usage, makes you think it might be?

Charlie Brumbaugh‭ wrote over 3 years ago

@Canina the whole point of the current system is to keep the environments identical for testing or at the very least as close as we can make it. Also need to make sure that we won't spend $5,000 only to find out that we will need to spend another $5,000

Do you need to push from one to the other, or are they independent (but you're trying to keep functionality the same)?

Charlie Brumbaugh‭ wrote over 3 years ago

@MonicalCellio they don't need to automatically push to each other, just need to have the same software/hardware/mostly same data
