Fit page content to paper format in LibreOffice Writer

I have a docx file in A3 format here consisting of one page. Using LibreOffice Writer, I'd like to scale it down to A4 without breaking the layout.

Eventually, I want to print the document on an A4 page.

Things I've tried:

  1. In the menu, go to "Format" → "Page Style" and change the paper format from A3 to A4. This breaks the layout.
  2. In the print dialog, I looked for an option equivalent to "fit content to print page". When setting the paper size to A4, the printed page has a lot of content cut off on the left and right sides. See the screenshot below.
  3. Export the document to a PDF using LibreOffice, open it with Zathura (a PDF viewer), and print the page. That works: The entire content is printed to an A4 page.

I wonder if there's a way to fit the document's page to the paper's format without having to first export it to a PDF.
