Are there any free video recording apps for the iPhone which have a pause function?

I want to be able to pause and resume my recording, so that the footage before and after the pause becomes part of the same video file. I am only looking for apps which are free of charge (gratis).

It seems strange that although the iPhone is considered to have a very advanced camera, is sold at a very high price point and is a very mature product, it still does not have the ability to pause recordings.

Currently, my options are:

  • Film a long video and cut out the unwanted parts. This wastes disk space and battery power.
  • Film several short videos and combine them later. I want to avoid this extra step.

I am using an iPhone 13 with iOS 15.

Do all your quotes contribute anything to the question? They just read like a rant. (5 comments)
Did you try the app suggested on reddit? (1 comment)

Do all your quotes contribute anything to the question? They just read like a rant. Please also don't repost the exact same question you've already asked somewhere else, that's not good for the SEO of Codidact. Instead tailor your question to the site you post on.

I agree that the question is not well written. However, it's a new user and what they're asking is a useful question (if rewritten). It's also something that SX unreasonably bans ("recommendation") so it's an opportunity to demonstrate why CD is better. So I tried to do an edit that improves it, and I'm commenting here for visibility (since the site isn't terribly active currently).

matthewsnyder‭ From the linked accounts on reddit and the duplicate on math.cd I very much doubt that this is a new user.

For me personally, this question lacks the information, if the apps suggested in the various reddit threads solved their problem.

I agree that the apps in the links are the obvious answer. I feel like the best outcome here is that either the apps in the reddit thread can be posted here as an answer and accepted, or OP should edit the question to clearly state what additional requirement they have that makes those apps not work.

I suppose the OP would have to come back and respond to the feedback for that, though. Oh well.
