Why do simple calculations take such a long time in MATLAB 2020?

+1
−0

For example:

2+2

ans =

     4

10-5

2+2
clear;

MATLAB

It takes 10-20 seconds before I get the result (ans=...). Why it is taking so long to return the answer to such a simple calculation? The system requirements for the software are:

  • Operating System: Windows 7/8/8.1/10
  • Memory (RAM): 2 GB of RAM required.
  • Hard Disk Space: 30 GB of free space required.
  • Processor: Intel Dual Core processor or later.

The computer is a laptop with 6 GB RAM and a Core i5. The processor isn't good; is that the reason for this to take so long? Sometimes it takes a minute to complete a calculation.
