Why does the free space on the system partition is way less than disk space minus space used by all folders/files in Windows 11?

On my work laptop, I have realized that I have a rather low disk space on the system drive. I have run a disk usage application (Run as Admin) to try to understand what is taking so much space and it reports with more than 150 GB less space occupied by all files and folders than reported by Windows.

I have also run Disk Cleanup as an Admin and there are no big files.

How can I find out what is taking the space?

This is a crucial information we need for a appropriate answer, since there can be (and most likely will be) a difference between filesize and the space used by that file. And you have to make sure you check all files (including hidden file and files that are inaccessible for the normal user).

So depending on the tool you used, a different size maybe reported. (Most likely the cause of your problem).

Used SpaceMonger ran as an admin, so in theory it should iterate through all files, hidden or not. The issue seems to be that even as an admin, I am not able to access some files such as shadow copies / restore points or at least this is my understanding.
