What smart TVs are easy to install custom OSes on?

It seems like many smart TVs use firmware/OS based on Linux or Android. I would guess that by now somebody must have tried putting their own software (mainstream Linux distro or custom OS) on one of these, with the goal of having more control over the device, disabling spyware/data collection "features" and removing undesired functionality such as Netflix apps.

I don't know much about TVs, but with Android phones it's common to install custom firmware/OS like AOSP or LineageOS. However, support varies greatly by brand and model. If your goal is to flash a custom ROM, it makes sense to first check which devices are supported by your ROM of choice and buy one of those.

There is probably a similar situation for smart TVs: Although most use a handful of standard firmwares or OSes, certain models are probably easier to mess with than others.

What brands and models of smart TVs (or screens, or monitors) are known to be particularly easy to install custom firmware or OS?
