Both RHEL and Debian/Ubuntu pass these also, not just Apple. I suspect the intention is to preserve the user's language and regional preferences across SSH sessions. The challenges this poses on some servers, however, have been a point of contention for some time. (more) |

Adding a period after footnote numbers in Microsoft Word on macOS I'm using Microsoft Word v16.9.3 on macOS Sonoma 14.6.1. I need to use Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition for a paper, and this calls for the footnotes being in 12 point font and the footnote numbers not being superscripted and being followed by a period. FYI, it would not be encoding since that only affects what is shown in the terminal. You'd have to set fileencoding, which affects the output written to file. However, that doesn't really help because it also cannot be used in modeline "for security reasons" (more) |
