How to make an app fullscreen in Android?

Is there a way to make an arbitrary app fullscreen in Android? A temporary solution would be the best. I'm thinking about a situation where you just want to focus fully on a note app for a while.

Screen pinning kinda achieves this, but it's a bit of a hassle to exit. A lighter solution would work better.
