Question Can spammers discover valid email addresses?
Is it possible to discover valid email addresses from a domain more efficiently than just trying to send mail to random addresses, i.e. brute forcing? Viewed from another perspective: If an email address you've only used in one service starts to receive spam, how strong evidence does this consti...

Answer A: Why does the headphone's audio quality change when I switch between my laptop’s built-in microphone and my Bluetooth headphones’ microphone?
When using the bluetooth headset only for audio, it will use a codec optimized for audio, e.g. `AAC`. When you start to use it also as a mic it will switch to another codec optimized for calls, e.g. `CVSD` or `mSBC`. This comes at the cost of audio bandwidth. On my KDE Linux desktop you can ac...

Comment Post #294423 I wonder whether a malfunctioning drive, even if root, would necessarily cause a full shutdown..? The kernel lives in RAM after all. It would seem like there should be a way to retain some shell on the machine for post-problem analysis, provided that it really is the drive that's failing.

Question How to install PWAs on Android?

Comment Post #293014 You're right, that is the correct term in Android, if not particularly clear. I'll add it to the question.

Question How to make an app immersive (fullscreen) in Android?
Is there a way to make an arbitrary app immersive in Android? That is, fullscreen with the status and navigation bars hidden. A temporary solution would be the best. I'm thinking about a situation where you just want to focus fully on a note app for a while. Screen pinning kinda achieves th...

Answer A: How can I get Windows 10 to stop displaying the wrong time on bootup?
What's happening The operating systems are using the hardware clock in different ways. Linux uses UTC while widows uses localtime (dubious I know). So when you boot the other OS, it's gonna see that the hardware clock is bonkers and update it. Evidently Linux manages to this behind the scenes ...

Question What's up with the .co.uk domain?
Many UK based websites' domain names are under the `.co.uk` second-level domain. I.e. `site.co.uk`. Most other countries (and other top-level domains too) seem to just forgo the in-between domain levels: `site.topdomain`. Why do they use it in the UK?
