Thank you for the detailed walk-through on reading these labels! I had no idea what most of that meant.
I stopped using the charger immediately (don't trust it any more), which led me to the question of what I could safely use in its stead. (more) |

Very hot to the touch (I dropped it on something fireproof quickly), no burn marks or smoke or redness on my hand later. I can't think of anything unusual in its recent history, like being plugged in during a storm. No problems with anything else plugged into that wall outlet before or since. ... (more) |

Thanks for explaining how the negotiation works. (I didn't know if I had to fully match specs when replacing this.) This charger worked for its device (intermittent use) for about ten years before the overheating started, so I was assuming something failed recently rather than it having been sk... (more) |

| Question | — |
How interchangeable are USB-A power (charging) adapters? As is typical, I have a bunch of devices that charge via USB and a bunch of power adapters to use with them. I've never been sure what's interchangeable with what, so I am careful to use the adapter that came with the device I'm charging. (Or, in the case of my most recent phone that didn't com... (more) |

Can I change green message bubbles in Messages to a more accessible shade? I am a new iPhone user and have encountered the "blue versus green bubbles" problem in the Messages app. Messages show in blue bubbles (background colors) if they were sent using the iMessages protocol (which includes encryption), and in green bubbles if they were sent using plain SMS (always tr... I had a similar problem on MacOS and the solution was a firewall. You've tagged this `firewall` so I assume you're already thinking in that direction. I don't know anything about Windows firewalls, but in case my MacOS question is helpful: https://powerusers.codidact.com/posts/283662 (more) |

The behavior has been there forever, but maybe different versions of Windows have different ways to change behaviors, so the version would be important. (I remember the move from XP to 7 clobbering a bunch of my accessibility settings and I had to learn new ways to handle the problems. So if I'... (more) |

A: How to handle crossposts After this question was asked, there was another one that received an answer that is currently +6/-0 and argues against crossposts. A: How can I configure Chrome on Android so that no site can play any sound unless I authorize it? Chrome has a well-hidden setting for the default (allow or don't allow sound), but I haven't found a way native to Chrome to override that from a page. I'd like to be able to turn sound off unless I do something on a particular page to allow it there, but Chrome doesn't build that in and extensi... (more) |

How can I remove sticky "reply" etc buttons in Gmail Android app? The Android Gmail app recently (I have version 2025.06.15.773123224.Release) added sticky reply buttons (reply, reply all, forward) to the bottom of the screen when viewing an individual message. This block of buttons takes up almost 20% of the real estate on my phone. How do I get rid of it? ... (more) |

I've updated the question to include headers of a (legitimate) message that arrived at my domain (D) but never arrived at Gmail. Interestingly, it's from another Gmail user, and when I replied to the message (from my domain), the other person did get my message.
I use a paid hosting provider ... (more) |

| Question | — |
How do I stop Gmail from silently dropping legitimate email? I have a domain and now use it for my primary email address. In addition to depositing mail in that mailbox, this address also currently forwards to my Gmail account. (Yes I know, and I want to relocate 20+ years of saved email, but not today.) I set up the forwarding using the CPanel "Forward... (more) |

Yikes. What was Apple thinking?? That's a terrible place to put that option.
I mean ok, I see what's happening -- object-specific options first (of which there are now two), then general "inspection" (etc) ones, then copy (and paste if contextual), then (I assume) some add-ins... but it's st... (more) |

| Question | — |
How do I change to a new email address for Google Groups subscriptions? I am subscribed to several Google Groups (email lists). I want to change the address where I receive that email, preferably without having to unsubscribe and resubscribe for each list.
