Question | — |
Ought I clone my C Windows drive, from my old SSD to new SSD in new computer? To save time, rather than installing Windows and programs afresh, I fancy cloning my old C SSD, on to my new SSD in my new computer. But I am getting mixed messages on cloning! Who's correct? >When you have got a new SSD, you might feel confused about the way to configure an operating system for... (more) |

Question | — |
Why did Windows automatically open 1 Word document, but not 2 others, in the same folder? Call the 3 Word documents in the same folder 1.docx, 2.docx, 3.docx. I followed Allen Wyatt's instructions for "Opening a Word Document when Starting the Computer" that is encapsulated by Microsoft. Then 1.docx automatically opened on startup. But 2.docx and 3.docx failed to start up automatically. ... (more) |

Question | — |
In Word, how do I readily sort a string of numbers separated by commas? My string of numbers is 32, 29, 10, 30, 40, 39, 48, 12, 42, 41, 38, 18. How can I click inside a gnarled window? I need to install BCUninstaller. But I can't click to pick the options inside, OR the maximize button on the upper right that's greyed out. No other window is gnarled like this on my desktop, which is working perfectly. (more) |

Question | — |
How can I record merely heads in a video call? To save Hard Drive space, how can I record merely the green rectangles below containing the heads of my family? I waste bytes if I record the areas crossed out in orange, like the backgrounds and shoulders. See screenshot below from Skype's video. Don't hesitate to answer this for other video cha... (more) |

Question | — |
Why doesn't permanently deleting emails dwindle the .ost's size, absent new emails? My old backup email account never receives incoming emails. In Microsoft Outlook, I deleted at least 50 emails in the Inbox and Sent Items, then emptied "Deleted Items", but the .ost for this email remains the same! Why didn't the .ost file shrivel in file size? (more) |

Question | — |
Why did samcarter delete my post, simply because later other websites cross posted it? I have rewritten this post in response to samcarter's answer. I posted, and wrote myself, https://powerusers.codidact.com/posts/287106. At the time of posting, I was unaware of any cross post. samcarter linked to subsequent verbatim cross posts on Reddit and community.teamviewer.com, but failed ... (more) |

Question | — |
In Word, how can I set 'Header Position from Top' and 'Footer Position from Bottom' simultaneously for all pages? I don't have time to set, or change, the 'Header Position from Top' and 'Footer Position from Bottom' for each page individually and manually! How can I set them all at once, in one fell swoop? Please see the green arrows in the screenshot below. Word deceitfully allegates that Page 2 is "Link[ed... (more) |

Question | — |
How can I see old photos, so far down a Facebook page that scrolling down freezes the browser? One relative has taken so many photos, that scrolling down to his pictures before 2020 takes too much time and effort. But once scrolling reaches his pictures uploaded in 2020, my browser froze. I had to "End task" in Task Manager. I tried this on Chrome Firefox and Edge, but the problem replicated. ... (more) |

Question | — |
Does embedding an image, in an email, debauch its appearance or quality? My bosses and colleagues prefer images to be embedded, rather than attaching an image to an email — not least because attachments can be wrongly flagged as spam, and because it's easier to see embedded pictures than clicking and opening many attachments. This screenshot hails from that YouTube video.... (more) |

Question | — |
In Microsoft Word, how do I systematically add space before the Footnote Superscript? Undoubtedly, it's too unproductive to add spaces manually before each Footnote SuperScript. Image alt text I clicked on Manage Styles, but see no option to add such spaces PRODUCTIVELY. Word grayed out "Paragraph" that I can't click on! (more) |

Question | — |
Should I now delete backup files already stored on my SSD C Drive? Should I use free space on SSD C Drive? On both my desktop and laptop, my Windows 11 C drives are on a 500 GB SSD. My D drives are on a 1 TB HDD. Desktop A Microsoft Support Engineer noticed that I backed up 300 GB of family videos on my C drive. Windows 11 consumes 200 GB. Thus my Desktop SSD has 100 idle GB. She DISadvised adding... (more) |

In Word's Find and Replace, when to use # vs. (0, 9)? I need to remove all the red text below with ‘Find and Replace’, but keep all green text. Input 1:23 Keep this line 1. 4:56 Keep this line 2.
