I had pretty much the same problems as the OP describes on my previous PC. Some aspect of what graphic programs you had running caused a certain part of the GFX card to go live, which in turn caused coil whine inside the PSU. Since the people reading this are likely complete laymen to electronics, you should probably add the following: 1) Do not poke at the large capacitors inside the PSU with your fingers! @#36363 If it's a brand new game (or well re-make in this case), then Nvidia might have released optimizations for that particular game. But usually such optimizations are rather minor. Why exactly do you think it's your computer/gfx card? Will the game launch? Is the screen lagging or showing weird graphics? If it's just lag then if you are lucky there's one particular setting you can tweak that makes a big difference. If it won't launch at all, then the problem could be anything. ... (more) |

If this is a classical HD based on magnetic discs and a reader head and this is a _new noise_ you haven't heard before, then I'd say it's about to break. If it always sounded like this, it's unlikely a problem. If it's a modern flash-based HD it shouldn't be making any sounds at all. (more) |

So basically it can't be used. Well, yikes. I'm hesitant to use products by Google for anything sensitive like bank access. I did use Opera on PC back in the days, it was super fast and super buggy. Some months back I helped my mom to update her ~7 years old Samsung to latest Android version. Worked just fine. So I'm guessing it's manufacturer-specific - you can update for as long as the manufacturer is still providing support to the phone model. (more) |

You can tell it to prompt for it and set a time or schedule when the update will happen. But I don't think it is possible to stop the update train. The main reason is that if the main category contains some 95% office suite questions, then people will hesitate to ask other types of questions here. I certainly would. It's very hard to tell what could be the cause. Windows update silently replacing working drivers with broken drivers is one of the most common computer problems nowadays. If this is to be included, it needs some very clear directions of how to post such questions.
